Shipton by Beningbrough Parish Council meetings are held once a month, generally on the fourth Thursday of the month, at the Community Centre and start at 7:30 pm.
An agenda and previous month's draft minutes are circulated at least 3 days before each meeting and is posted on this website and on the Parish Council notice board at the bus stop opposite the pub.
All village residents are encouraged to attend parish council meetings and to raise questions and observations and suggest items for discussion at a future meeting during the public participation section of the agenda. However, there may be times when the public are excluded for part of a meeting if the council resolves that publicity would be prejudicial to the public interest, or for other special reasons stated in the resolution.
All matters coming before a council must be decided upon by a majority of councillors present and voting. Each councillor has one vote and must vote in person. (Councillors who have been disqualified by declaring a prejudicial interest will not vote). In addition the chair has the casting vote if it is required.
Annual Meetings
Once a year we hold our Annual Parish Meeting (APM). This is a public meeting (i.e. not subject to the constraints of a normal Parish Council Meeting) at which residents may raise any matters that affect the community.
The Annual Meeting of the Parish Council at which the Parish Council officers (i.e. chair and vice-chair) are elected, will generally be held at the start of the Annual Parish Meeting.
Both of these meetings are held in May.
ALL MINUTES ARE IN DRAFT FORM UNTIL APPROVED AT THE FOLLOWING MEETING
